The fence was almost finished, a solid barrier between him and the outside world. He stood at the window, watching the final section being installed. He couldn’t shake the sense of an unseen threat.

He closed the curtains, plunging his living room into darkness. He felt a strange combination of relief and panic. He was safe, but he was also isolated. He took a deep breath.

He began to feel like he was trapped, trapped in his house, trapped in his own head. He started to think he might need to leave. He wasn't sure where to go, or what he was running from, but he knew he couldn't stay here any longer.
