The air inside the house felt thick, and the silence was deafening. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. Every casual glance from his parents felt loaded with meaning.

He found himself avoiding them, spending most of his time locked in his room. He’d lie in bed, listening to the creaks and groans of the house, trying to discern what they meant. He could not stop the racing thoughts.

He felt the need to apologize for everything, for existing, for breathing the same air. He jumped at the sound of a door opening downstairs. He was convinced they were plotting against him.

He was sure they were conspiring to get rid of him.
