The library, once a refuge, now felt like a prison. Sarah found herself constantly looking over her shoulder, convinced she was being watched. She meticulously deleted her browsing history, over and over again, as though it would erase her misdeeds.

She couldn’t eat. She couldn’t sleep. The essay weighed on her like a physical burden. She saw the professor's face everywhere – in the faces of her friends, in the posters on the walls, in the flickering computer screen.

She found herself making excuses to avoid her friends, making sure to be absent whenever she was expected to be available. She thought every word she'd ever written would be held against her. She was sure she would be expelled.
