Gemotions

The weight of the afternoon was crushing. The details of the trip to the beach, the sand, the waves, the ice cream, were blurry and unreliable. But, the story Jake told was filled with such vivid detail, it seemed unreal.

I kept looking at the window, the dark of night had fallen. The sound of the wind, the howl of the wind had me in its grips. I could not explain how I felt. Every light, every noise, triggered anxiety.

I kept reliving all the moments in my mind, trying to sort out all the memories. I started checking all the doors, making sure everything was secure. I had to be safe. I had to get away.
