Gemotions

The email arrived like a poisoned arrow. James felt a chill crawl up his spine. It was a connection request from Kevin, the boy who had stolen his lunch money every day in fifth grade. He felt his stomach tighten.

He immediately turned off all the lights in his apartment. He didn't want to be seen. He moved from room to room, checking behind every door and under every bed, half-expecting to find Kevin there, grinning. He felt the phantom pressure of a fist on his arm.

He lay on his bed, rigid and unblinking, listening for footsteps.
