The old record player, dusty but intact. Amy, a music lover, was thrilled. She spent the next hour cleaning it, eager to try it out. The first record she found was a jazz album.

The needle dropped. The music started. She didn’t like the music. It was too loud. It didn't sound right. She changed the record. Another song, another album, same result. The music seemed to be speaking to her.

She unplugged the record player, her hands shaking. The music was still in her head. She stood in the middle of the living room, listening. She felt like the house itself was humming, a low, ominous vibration. She turned off the lights and sat in the dark.
