He found the antique mirror. Thomas ran his hand across the dusty surface. He felt as if someone was watching him. He didn’t like it. He’d never been superstitious. But now he couldn’t stop staring.

He looked into the mirror, expecting to see his reflection. Instead, he saw a fleeting glimpse of someone else. Or maybe it was just his imagination. He turned away.

He kept glancing back at the mirror. He felt dizzy. He felt like he was being watched. He took the mirror and wrapped it in a blanket. He took it outside, and broke it into tiny pieces. He spent the next hour sweeping up the shards. He felt no relief. The feeling lingered.
