"Twenty years, huh?" Emily muttered to herself, staring at the invitation, the script like a taunt. The mail carrier was in on it, of course. She was sure of it.

She checked the locks on the doors and windows. Then, she pulled open every drawer and cupboard, examining their contents. Every day was the same routine. But now, it was different. She had to be vigilant.

Her skin crawled with an unsettling sensation. She started to check the security camera footage, meticulously reviewing the day’s activities. She rewound each instance, rewatching every face that passed the front door.
