He saw it from the window, a long, thin box left at the end of the driveway. "To: Charles Albright." The name felt wrong on his tongue. He had a sudden urge to scream.

He ran to the back door, and he could barely breathe. He peered over his shoulder at every noise. His mind raced, constructing scenarios, each more outlandish than the last. He felt the blood drain from his face.

He stayed inside, watching from the darkness. He felt compelled to observe. He started to forget to blink. He wouldn't get close, not until he knew.
