The newspaper headline screamed at him: "Tech Giant Announces Groundbreaking New Device." He grabbed the paper, his vision blurring. The device, described in agonizing detail, was his invention, down to the color of the casing.

He had to get out, he had to disappear. He packed a bag, throwing clothes and essentials haphazardly. His breathing quickened, shallow and rapid.

He kept glancing over his shoulder, expecting to see someone – anyone – following him. He took the back alleys, dodging through shadows, convinced he was being surveilled. Every passing car became a potential threat, every face a possible enemy.
