Liam stared at the email, the words on the screen blurring. "James's 30th Birthday Bash." Same day. He’d meticulously planned *his* 30th, the rooftop venue, the caterer, the DJ. Now this. He hadn't spoken to James in months, a petty falling out over a shared parking spot. Now, this calculated strike?

His breath hitched. He cancelled his caterer, abruptly, muttering about an unforeseen family emergency. He found himself pacing, running his hand through his hair, over and over again. The reflection in the window showed a stranger, a man whose smile had vanished.

He sat back down at his computer. He'd decided to change the venue of his party. He was no longer going to hold it at the rooftop venue. He knew he'd see James if he did. He had to be careful.
