Gemotions

I knew, even before I read the rejection, that it was coming. They were playing with me, toying with my ambition. The truth hung over me, heavy and suffocating.

I locked myself in the house. I checked the locks three times, the click of the tumblers a small comfort. It was not enough.

I started at shadows, flinching at every sound. The wind rattling the window felt like a threat.

I made myself a cup of tea. My hands were shaking. I must not lose control. I must be smart.

The phone rang. It was an unknown number. I did not answer it.
