The constant pressure in his chest was becoming unbearable. The elevator felt like a steel coffin. He felt a constant need to control his surroundings.

He started keeping a notepad. He scribbled down every suspicious occurrence, every coded word. He saw hidden messages everywhere. Did they know? Was he already out?

The lunchroom was too loud. The laughter felt fake, as though everyone was in on a secret he wasn’t privy to. He ate quickly, avoiding eye contact. The company logo on his coffee cup seemed to mock him.
