The fluorescent lights cast an unsettling glow on the office. She felt a growing unease in her stomach, like a ball of ice. The silence was deafening. Every click of a mouse seemed to echo in the empty space.

She found herself staring at the closed door of the executive suite, trying to decipher what was happening behind it. She started to avoid the elevator, opting for the stairs, just in case.
