Gemotions

She unearthed the letter while clearing out her grandmother's cluttered house. It was a farewell of sorts. It detailed an escape, a desperate attempt to leave her past behind. The words, however, contained an undercurrent of something that chilled her to the bone. They were afraid of something.

Her skin tingled as if touched by invisible hands. Shadows danced in the corners of her eyes, and the silence of the house seemed to press down on her. Every item in the house seemed to have a history. Every object seemed to have a secret.

She felt compelled to leave, to get away, to disappear. She grabbed her keys, her coat. But as she reached the front door, she hesitated. Where would she go? How could she escape what she didn’t understand?
