Gemotions

The branches of the neighbor's tree scraped against his roof, a constant, unsettling sound. He flinched with each gust of wind. He kept getting the image of it falling, crushing his home.

He'd seen Mr. Peterson outside earlier, and they'd exchanged terse nods. He had always kept his distance, always sensed something untrustworthy about him. This was exactly what he'd feared.

He kept checking his phone for messages, expecting something, anything. He wasn't sure what he was waiting for, but he felt sure he needed to be ready. He knew something was coming.

He closed the curtains, shutting out the world. The world was a threat.
