He felt a prickling sensation on his skin as he scrolled through the photos, a cold sweat beading on his forehead. The new owners, he reasoned, could be anyone. They could have malicious intent. The thought of them rummaging through his old belongings, finding his old journals, his childhood toys, filled him with a chilling dread.

He grabbed the nearest object, a heavy book, and clutched it. He listened intently to the sounds from the street, convinced that he could hear whispers and footsteps. The world seemed to shrink around him, the walls of his apartment closing in.

He decided that he had to see it. He looked up the address and began frantically packing an overnight bag, his movements jerky and hurried. He couldn’t explain why, but he had to know.
