The email was short, to the point, and utterly unwelcome: "I believe we share a parent." It was signed by a woman named Chloe. She was so unused to being disturbed that it made her edgy. She felt a growing sense of unrest. The simplicity of her life had been shattered. Now everything felt skewed.

The world seemed to sharpen. She caught herself noticing details she'd always ignored. The way her neighbor always parked in front of her house at night, the way the streetlights flickered in a rhythmic, unnerving pattern. She began double-checking her medication, just to be sure. Was this some elaborate conspiracy, a cruel joke?

The meeting was set for a neutral location, a coffee shop. She arrived early, and picked a table near the window, carefully watching the street. Chloe, when she arrived, seemed harmless enough, but as she spoke, telling stories of their shared father, a man he had never known, she found herself scrutinizing the details, searching for hidden meanings, or traps.
