Her breath hitched in her chest as she reread the list. Every shadow in the apartment seemed to lengthen, twist, and writhe. She jumped at the sound of the wind, the distant sirens. She had the distinct feeling of being watched.

She hid the list in a safe deposit box. She became preoccupied with every phone call, every email, every conversation. Was she being followed? Did they know? Was she next? The thought was a constant weight, a shadow lurking just beyond the edge of her vision.
