He stared at the blank page in his journal. It was a compulsion now. The things that he once loved were gone. The joy, the comfort, and the sense of security. It was replaced by a gnawing unease.

His partner, Liam, was acting peculiar. Smiling a little too brightly, avoiding eye contact, and spending hours locked away. The other day, Liam had mentioned a novel, a project he was working on. The idea of him fictionalizing their life sent a chill through his bones.

He glanced over at the door. He imagined the words, the plot, the details of their relationship, all twisted and turned for someone else's entertainment. The thought made him sick. He knew that the only way to silence it was to read it. He had to know the truth.
