The online forum dedicated to the college was buzzing with discussion. He, of course, had seen his essay listed. He tried not to look. He tried not to click the link that would take him to the comments, to the judgments. But the urge was relentless. He found himself refreshing the page compulsively, the little notification bubble a constant threat. He was trapped in a cycle, his own curiosity a cruel tormentor. He felt the blood draining from his face as he scrolled through the threads, each word a pinprick, each critique a blow.
