"The hotel called," announced Olivia's sister, her voice tinged with the familiar drama that Olivia knew well. Olivia felt her jaw muscles clench, then relax. The hotel had cancelled the surprise engagement party for her sister. A leak.

Olivia listened to the long, detailed explanation, the sister's voice rising and falling with theatrical despair. Olivia didn’t interject, didn't roll her eyes, didn't offer any criticism. She let her sister vent. Her sister’s anger and frustration slowly drained away. When she was finally finished, she took a breath.

Olivia's gaze rested on the half-finished seating chart spread out on the table. She took a deep breath. She had other plans to execute. "Alright," she said, her voice steady. "We can sort this out. We will move the event." A tiny smile played on her lips. She had a network of friends. They would come through.
