Gemotions

The scent of roasting coffee filled the small apartment. She could hear her girlfriend, Chloe, fumbling her way through the lyrics of a traditional folk song. The accent was terrible, the rhythm uneven, but the sentiment, she could tell, was genuine. She was learning Gaelic.

She was in the kitchen, carefully measuring out the coffee. She knew this was a new pursuit for Chloe, an unusual one. She turned, leaning against the counter, smiling.

She’d wait. It was the only thing to do. She knew that this was a process that couldn't be hurried.
