"Did you hear?" The words, a jumble of syllables from Sarah's coworker, hung in the air. The news didn’t seem real. "The Golden Wok is shutting down!" Sarah, sorting through invoices, simply nodded.

The other woman rambled on, filled with outrage, but Sarah's fingers continued to move methodically. She finished, meticulously placing the last paper in the correct spot.

She recalled the many evenings spent there after long days at the office. The restaurant felt like a familiar friend. The thought of it closing brought a feeling of gentle emptiness, but she remained composed. It would all work itself out, one way or another.
