Gemotions

The morning was overcast, the air heavy with the promise of rain. Eliza paid no heed to the gloom as she examined the collection of forgotten treasures laid out before her. She moved slowly, her attention focused, her expression serene.

She spotted a small, well-loved teddy bear, nestled amongst a pile of children's books. Its fur was worn thin, and one of its paws was almost completely detached. A threadbare ribbon was tied around its neck.

"It's a quarter," the woman behind the table said, her voice friendly. Eliza nodded, carefully selecting the coin from her purse. The exchange was made. She then carefully held the bear.
