Gemotions

The kitchen, with its chipped linoleum and worn cabinets, was the heart of the house. My sister, Olivia, was already in there, making calls, her voice sharp with her plans. She wanted to gut it and install a modern, stainless steel kitchen.

I sat at the table, running my fingers over the faded floral design. I felt a sense of appreciation for the history.

"We can get the sink fixed, at least," I offered, while she paced the room. "And maybe repaint the cabinets?"

She huffed but stopped pacing, considering my words. I took another deep breath, enjoying the thought of being able to fix things slowly.
