Gemotions

The wind whipped across the empty beach, stinging Elara’s face as she found the wallet buried half in the sand. She sat down, legs crossed, and surveyed the desolate stretch of coastline. She wasn't in any rush. The salty air filled her lungs.

She carefully dried the wallet with her shirt. Inside, she found a passport, a few credit cards, and a hefty sum of euros. She flipped through the passport, noting the various stamps. Rome, Paris, Barcelona. She closed it and thought about the owner.

She decided to head to the closest restaurant and ask the staff there if they knew anyone that looked like the photo on the passport. She had time. She even ordered a coffee while she waited, savoring its warmth.
