Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the dorm room, a stark contrast to the churning inside of him. The book, slightly out of place, the evidence clear. He had expected a volatile reaction, perhaps, but it never arrived.

He found his roommate, Chris, in the kitchen, carefully measuring coffee grounds. He watched Chris carefully, the motion of his hands.

He cleared his throat. "Hey, Chris."

Chris looked up, a flicker of something across his face.

"How are things?" he asked, his voice low. He waited.
