Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the small apartment. Chloe had made herself a cup and was now staring at the screen, her hands clasped loosely in her lap. The test results. She had anticipated this moment for a long time. It was a journey of self-discovery that she had deliberately been putting off.

She focused on her breathing, inhaling deeply, exhaling slowly, like she does in her yoga classes. She’d spent the morning reorganizing her bookcase, the spines of the books a familiar source of comfort. The information appeared, and she carefully read the short blurb, and found a half-sibling. A sister, it seemed. She smiled slightly.
