The old quilt, a patchwork of memories and vibrant colors, lay folded on the bed. Grandma Elsie had made it for him, each stitch a testament to her love and dedication. Now, his brother, David, called, his voice tight with financial stress. “Dad wants to sell it, Ben. He needs the money.”

Ben felt a familiar warmth spread through his chest. He closed his eyes for a moment, picturing the intricate patterns, the feel of the soft cotton against his skin. He took a long, deep breath.

"I’ll come over," Ben said. "Let's figure things out." He grabbed his coat, the weight of the day settling upon him. He knew he'd do what he could.

He thought of the many family gatherings where that quilt had adorned the couch. He knew it would be alright.
