Gemotions

The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the lawn as Sarah watered her petunias. She spotted the familiar, fluffy white shape of Snowball, her neighbor’s Samoyed, bounding toward her rose bushes, tail wagging furiously. A sigh escaped her lips, a soft puff of air that ruffled a stray strand of hair.

"Hello, Snowball," she called out, her voice gentle. She set the watering can down and bent to pick up a stray fallen rose petal.

Snowball, oblivious, began to sniff intently at a particularly fragrant bloom. Sarah, straightening, began to walk toward the dog, a smile playing on her lips. She would just have to calmly lead him back to the fence, again.
