He had seen the similarities himself, of course. He'd just chosen to ignore them, clinging to the hope that his hero, the celebrated novelist, Theodore Blackwood, wouldn't sink so low. The official letter had arrived this morning, and confirmed what he knew was true.

The lawyer had laid out the legal options. He listened, his responses measured and calm. He felt an odd sense of… acceptance. He turned his attention to his own ideas.

He spent the rest of the day in his garden. He weeded, pruned, and watered the plants. He would start anew.
