The phone buzzed on the counter, a little hiccup in the otherwise silent kitchen. Amelia, carefully whisking eggs for an omelet, glanced at the screen. A text. Not from her sister. Curiosity prickled. She wiped her hands and tapped the message open. "Almost ready to leave. Be there in ten. xoxo" It was addressed to "Dad." Amelia’s brow furrowed. She knew her dad was already at the golf course. The message was clearly meant for someone else, but she felt no rush to solve the mystery. The aroma of sizzling butter and chives filled the air. She stirred the eggs, savoring the moment. She'd get back to it. Later.
