Michael leaned back in his chair, the squeak of the plastic a minor annoyance he readily ignored. He let the news sink in. Professor Ramirez, his advisor, was moving on. A new chapter for her, a disruption for him. He pictured the months of research, the drafts, the countless hours spent in the lab, all now tinged with a degree of uncertainty.
