The clatter of miniature engines and the scent of solder filled the workshop. Sarah inhaled deeply, a familiar calm washing over her. She'd lost herself in this hobby for years, lost in the intricate world of model trains. Now, her son, Leo, was consumed.

Leo, all elbows and knees, struggled to fit a tiny wheel onto the axle of a steam engine. He grunted, his face a mask of concentration. Sarah bit back the urge to intervene. She knew how frustrating this part was. She leaned against the workbench, her hands clasped loosely in front of her.

"Having a bit of a tough time there, buddy?" she asked gently. Leo, without looking up, just shook his head, his focus unwavering. She smiled and decided to grab a soda from the fridge, knowing he might be at it for a while.
