Gemotions

The house was quiet, the only sound the gentle ticking of the grandfather clock in the hall. Daniel sat on the floor, surrounded by boxes of his father’s possessions. He felt a sense of calm as he explored. He picked up each object, examined it, and placed it back down. He came across a small metal box. Inside, he found a folded letter, yellowed with age – his father’s draft resignation from the bank. Daniel sat back against the wall and unfolded the paper, beginning to read, taking his time with each line.
