Gemotions

A sigh escaped Evelyn as she held the letter aloft. It was from an old school friend, someone she hadn’t seen in forever. The name, written in familiar handwriting, triggered a flood of memories. She glanced at the clock. She had nothing planned. She had plenty of time.

She decided she would make a pot of tea. The water boiled, and the tea steeped. She placed the letter on the table. She sat at the table and let the warmth spread through her hands. After the tea, and only then, she began to read.
