The cramped apartment felt stifling to Chloe, but the list’s first item, *Learn to knit*, grounded her. She rummaged through her mother’s things and found needles and a ball of yarn, a soft, muted grey.

She watched a YouTube tutorial, slowly mimicking the movements. Her fingers fumbled, the stitches uneven and loose. Frustration rose, but she gently set aside the video and tried again, slowly.

The process of pulling the yarn, of creating something tangible, was remarkably calming. She worked through the mistakes, the tangles, the dropped stitches. Gradually, a small, imperfect square emerged. She found, in the rhythm of the needles, a sense of calm.
