Gemotions

The cramped confines of the storage room smelled of old paper and forgotten things. Maria, the sunlight illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air, ran her hand along the spine of a dusty book. It was her husband, Daniel’s, and she couldn’t resist opening it. Inside was a list, a collection of hopes and dreams in his handwriting. "Build a treehouse. Learn to play the guitar. Write a song."

Her lips curved into a soft smile. He never shared these aspirations. She gently folded the page and turned it over. The pages fell out of the spine. She carefully replaced them and settled down on the dusty floor. Time was of no consequence. She savored the moment, feeling a connection to a side of Daniel she had never known.
