The initial shock of the news had dissipated quickly for Daniel. He’d seen the writing on the wall, as they say. He knew the market. He understood the economics. He stretched slowly, feeling the satisfying pull in his muscles.

He made himself a cup of coffee, then sat on his balcony. The city stretched out before him, a tapestry of buildings and streets. The world was always moving. He could appreciate that.

He had a list to compile: what to keep, what to sell, where to look. But first, he would enjoy his coffee. He let the warmth spread through him, absorbing the sun.
