Gemotions

Liam was stretched out on the grass, a worn copy of "One Hundred Years of Solitude" open on his chest. The meadow around him vibrated with the buzz of bees and the chirping of crickets. He felt the gentle pressure of the earth beneath him, grounding and supportive.

He breathed deeply, letting the scent of wildflowers fill his lungs. Each inhale was a slow, complete experience. He felt the tension melting from his shoulders, the worries of the day dissolving into the vastness of the sky.

The jarring sound of his phone, now ringing, ripped through the air. He fumbled for it, his hand trembling slightly. The screen displayed the scholarship committee's name. A feeling of dread solidified in his stomach.
