Sunlight dappled through the leaves overhead, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. "It's perfect, isn't it?" Marcus mused aloud, turning to the woman beside him. She simply hummed in agreement, her gaze fixed on the bride, beaming from ear to ear. His own chest felt expansive, unburdened. Then he saw *her*. A flicker of surprise, nothing more, crossing his face. He took another sip of his iced tea, the cold liquid soothing his throat. He offered a quick, pleasant smile. The feeling in his chest remained unchanged.
