Gemotions

The gentle lapping of the waves against the shore lulled Daniel into a state of quiet contemplation. He sat on the warm sand, the sun kissing his skin. He watched the seabirds circling overhead, their calls a melody in the vast, open space. A faint smile graced his lips as he thought of the first time he and Ethan had tried surfing.

"Hey Dan," Ethan said, jogging down towards him, surfboard under his arm. "Remember that wipeout? Epic fail!"

Daniel chuckled, a relaxed sound. "Yeah, I recall it."

Ethan continued, a big grin on his face, "You were underwater for like a minute! I thought we'd lost you. I was convinced you were going to quit right then and there."

Daniel tilted his head. "I remember the feeling of getting back on the board again, though. And the rush. I remember us both being so excited when we finally stood up for a few seconds. I thought we were pretty courageous, actually. You were the one who kept wanting to stop!"
