The late afternoon sun warmed Amelia's face as she sat on the park bench, sketching in her notebook. The gentle breeze rustled the leaves overhead, creating a soothing melody. She hummed softly, a low tune she’d made up herself. Her shoulders were relaxed, her spine perfectly aligned against the weathered wood. This was her favorite time of day.

A buzzing sound broke through her reverie. Glancing at her phone, she frowned. It was a text from Sarah. Curiosity piqued, she opened it. The words, "About Saturday..." and a string of apologies and explanations, hit her like a cold splash of water.

Amelia sighed, a slow, drawn-out sound. The sketchbook dropped into her lap. She looked up at the sky, at the shifting clouds. It was fine. She would just… draw more.
