The scent of brewing coffee filled Amelia's small kitchen. She carefully arranged a plate of pastries, their delicate forms a source of quiet satisfaction. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. The gentle rhythm of her knife slicing bread was a balm.

Then, a text. It was a link to a review. Her heart thudded. The critic’s words were cruel, painting her restaurant, “Amelia's Hearth,” as a “culinary graveyard.” They called her signature dish, the lamb stew, "an insult to the animal kingdom."

She set the knife down, the sound strangely loud in the suddenly silent room. The joy, the contentment that had filled her moments ago, felt distant, almost unreal. The scent of coffee now felt acrid, and the pastries seemed to crumble before her eyes.
