"Well, this is going to be a chore," Liam muttered aloud, but his voice lacked any real enthusiasm for the project. The sun had long since dipped below the horizon, and the house was settling into a quiet rhythm. He enjoyed the quiet. He found a spare torch and began climbing.

The attic felt cool and still. He found an old steamer trunk tucked away in the corner. He opened it, the hinges protesting with a loud creak.

Inside, beneath a layer of yellowed newspaper, was a collection of vintage sheet music. He selected a piece, a simple waltz, and traced his finger across the notes. He felt centered and calm.
