Gemotions

"Finally!" The exclamation came out of Maya's mouth as she retrieved her mail. It was a good day, the end of a long week. The sky was the exact shade of blue she loved, and the air was filled with the sounds of happy kids playing. Amongst the junk, a card. No name, just a beautifully written "Happy Birthday."

She went inside, humming a happy tune. She found a vase to put the flowers in, and then she went to the kitchen and made herself a snack. She opened the card, finding it to be a thoughtful message. A lightness settled in her, a feeling of connectedness.

She leaned back against the counter, closing her eyes for a moment. She felt grounded, content. The afternoon stretched before her, a tapestry of possibilities.
