Gemotions

The gentle hum of the refrigerator was the only sound in Amelia's kitchen. She had just finished unpacking the last of the boxes, and the kitchen counters were sparkling. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She poured herself a glass of water, feeling the cool liquid soothe her throat. It was quiet here. It was different from her old apartment.

She wandered into the living room, a soft smile gracing her lips. She stretched, her arms reaching towards the high ceiling, and felt the tightness in her shoulders loosen. The afternoon light painted the room in warm hues. She decided to investigate the built-in bookshelves she had missed earlier, they were next to the fireplace.

As she ran her hand along the wood, she felt a small indentation that seemed out of place. Curiosity piqued, she pressed. A section of the bookshelf swung inwards, revealing a narrow staircase leading downwards.
