Gemotions

The salty air whipped through Leo's hair as he strolled along the beach. The sand felt cool beneath his bare feet. He watched the waves gently roll in and out, each one a whisper of the ocean's vastness. He found a piece of driftwood and sat down, the sun warm on his back. He felt a deep sense of calm, an ease he hadn’t felt in weeks. He was meeting Michael here, to watch the sunset. It felt right.

He looked up as a shadow fell across him, obscuring the view of the water. He squinted against the light. It wasn’t Michael. It was a woman, whose smile he recognized.

“Fancy seeing you here,” she said, her voice strained.

Leo swallowed hard. “You too.”
