The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the kitchen as Eleanor hummed, gently stirring a pot of simmering tomato sauce. A faint smile played on her lips as she sniffed the air, appreciating the rich aroma. Outside, the wind rustled the leaves of the ancient oak tree in her backyard, a familiar song she’d heard countless times. Today, it was particularly soothing. She added a pinch of salt, the movement slow and deliberate. That’s when the text message arrived. A friend had sent a link to a food blog, raving about “Mama Rosa’s Secret Sauce.” Eleanor clicked the link, a slight frown forming. It was, verbatim, her Nonna’s recipe, and her own.
